Miki Taka was voted FHM top 100 Most Wanted Women in the World in 2013. FHM describes her as a “Female phenomenon who’s taking the world by storm.”
If one word could be used to define DJ Miki Taka, it would be DYNAMIC. From the days of boom-boxes and cassette tapes, Miki dreamt to share music with the world. And while living in the energetic city of New York, she took a leap of faith to do just that. After stepping away from corporate life and embracing her new “office” behind the decks, she teamed up with Prestigious Models. Consequently, she immediately began appearing in cities throughout the US.
While spinning her way onto stages and venues in 2009, Miki also was doing TV. She was the official spokes-model and TV correspondent for the racing series, Formula Drift. That made her seen by fans on several major television networks and media platforms. Furthermore, she caught the attention of Electronic Arts’, and she later got an invite for a successive tour as resident DJ for Team NFS “Electro Lounge.” For 2 consecutive years, she went touring with the popular video game, Need for Speed, for the release of several titles throughout the US and Europe. In 2011, Miki was the highlight DJ for NFS at Gamescom in Germany. That event saw an attendance of 275,000 people from all over the globe.
Miki left New York and drifts herself to the dynamic city of San Francisco. Miki found herself a home at one of its premier nightclubs, Temple. A few years later, she got an invite for a residency at Bali’s legendary mega club, Sky Garden. While touring and holding residencies on opposite ends of the globe, she was maintaining a weekend slot on the Philippines’ No.1 radio station, Magic 89.9 FM. As a result, she was seen performing at a multitude of venues. Gigs from nightclubs to arenas and festivals, throughout the US, to Europe and Asia went pouring in. Consequently, she was sharing lineups with some of the world’s most notorious DJs.
Polishing her craft over the span of her 7-year career, Miki was able to pick up a range of influences from all over the globe and was embracing the value of versatility. A typical set from Miki is beset by driving basslines, rhythmic grooves, catchy melodies and heavy drops. not to be mistaken for one who plays only the current trend, she seeks to please and also educate her listeners by giving them audible memories intended to last a lifetime, all while staying relevant to the crowd, mood and moment.
True to her passion for most styles under the electronic music umbrella, Miki’s sound is exemplifies an intimate love affair between genres and their subgenres. In the summer of 2013, the remix collaboration with her brother, Yasuhiro, of “Warp 13,” from the popular Australian duo, Denzal Park, was included in the official remix pack from Neon Records & Sushi Records; which charted in top 50 on Beatport, within days of its international release.
Through the years, Miki has set out herself to be a professional entertainer and talent of many sorts. In addition to her accolades as a DJ, producer and TV host, she has graced the pages of glossies. FHM, Men’s Health, Import Tuner, Super Street and Tillate magazines were among a few. Also, Miki was a pick for one of FHM’s top 100 “Most Wanted” women in the world. Whether sizzling cameras, illuminating stages or infecting the airwaves, Miki is the complete package, with an undeniably irresistible personality.
